Hello! I am often asked how to find my Dress Design style in clothes for a girl, a woman and even a man.

Therefore, I have prepared a step-by-step algorithm for you. Moreover, it is equally suitable for young guys, men, and girls and women.

And in a series of posts on my Instagram , I will talk about each of them in more detail. Or maybe I’ll arrange a marathon, with a selective check of homework.

Step 1. Understand your figure!

Do not determine its type (I have already said 100,000 times that the typology of figures DOES NOT WORK), but understand its geometry, your beloved and not so much parts of the body.

It will allow you

1 work with proportions;
2 find your styles even without trying on;
3 correctly place accents in the image;
4 emphasize strengths and hide weaknesses.

By the way, in great detail about how to analyze your figure and how to work with New Dress Design styles in a women’s wardrobe, I talk in detail at a mini-course

Step 2. Learn to work with color

Determine your most successful shades , find your favorite colors, and learn how to combine them . Find your color matching formulas. Use color in order to make the necessary impression on others.

Step 3. Create a Mudboard. Collect images that inspire you.

Analyze what exactly you like in these images: any particular wardrobe detail, style, repeating print or accessory, stylistic direction or maybe a color combination?

Step 4. Find your chip.

What exactly is yours: something to do, style, combination, accessory, characteristic color combinations, stylistic techniques, etc. Make this chip your “calling card.” Repeat it directly or by interpreting from image to image.

Step 5. Make your “black list”.

That which is categorically unacceptable to you. That it’s quite direct, fu-fu, even if all the stylists in the world shout how beautiful it is and you urgently need it, if you do not like it at all, you are uncomfortable with this – blacklisted!

Step 6. Who is the style icon for you?

Create a list of women (or men) who are personally a style icon for you. Not those whom everyone thinks, namely those who catch you!

Step 7. Analyze your lifestyle

.

Write down your main activities. So you will understand for what cases you need clothes, what images are needed: comfortable, business, for dates, etc. This will help to clearly formulate the goals and objectives that your wardrobe should solve. Personal style should organically fit into your life.

Step 8. Write down your image formulas

Find your image formulas taking into account the peculiarities of your figure, color, lifestyle and fashion trends. This saves a lot of time, helps to embed your chips in the image and makes the style recognizable. Do not forget to photograph the existing images: it makes life easier and helps to notice the nuances.

Step 9. Audit your wardrobe.

What is missing, what things need to be replaced. The topic is very extensive and there is a special algorithm for parsing the wardrobe. As well as compiling a shopping list and shopping route. But more about that next time!

Step 10 Find your brands.

Which you like stylistically, which fit you well. Often, brands repeat successful base models from year to year. And if you are confident in the fit and size range, then the option to make a mistake with the size is greatly reduced. This applies not only to clothing, but also to shoes. For example, I adore free people – basically their clothes fit well on me and meet my lifestyle. And for inexpensive cashmere I go to H&M.

Step 11 Invest in long-term trends.

That you can carry more than one season! This will be the basis of your wardrobe, your personal style. And these are not always basic things, although they are the same.

Step 12. Focus not only on new products and fashion trends.

A unique, personal style is not about the race for all the fashion trends. Choose only those that are interesting and suitable for you. Look for inspiration in vintage fashion, style icons of past decades.

Step 13. Buy consciously

Choose the things that you really like and that are on your shopping list. Personal style does not compromise. If something embarrasses things, doesn’t like it, it’s not convenient – you will not feel 100% in it. Things should like, please, be comfortable and decorate their master / mistress.

By the way, the most worthy things from the mass market that look much more expensive and are made very high quality for the mass market, as well as which can be worn for more than one season, I show in seasonal webinars.

Step 14. Experiment.

Try on more. Search. And remember that your personal style can grow and develop with you!

Step 15. Listen to yourself and repeat this algorithm if necessary.

We are changing. Our figures are changing. Our lifestyle is changing. Our tastes are changing. Finding your personal style doesn’t mean taking some kind of test and then wearing the same things, styles and colors all your life. Personal style is a reflection of you and just like you, it is lively and can change with you!

I hope this algorithm answered you the question of how to find your style in clothes. The main thing is to do it! Then changes for the better will not be long in coming. Finally, I just want to add that the search for your own style is an incredibly exciting journey to yourself.
